Whiskey Whiskers, an 11 yo male who was surrendered to Orange County Animal Services, became ill with an upper respiratory infection and was placed in foster to recover after staff members campaigned for him because of his wonderful, sweet personality. After fostering, it was immediately obvious that he is extraordinarily sweet and a very special kitty. He is a gentle, laid-back boy, with his beautiful eyes and adoring gaze, who loves to snuggle and purr and melt your heart with his silent meows. On arrival, he was skinny, and put on little weight after recovering from the infection. The shelter vet received authorization to get his blood tested, which is very unusual for them and a testament to what a special cat Whiskey Whiskers is. The results showed mild hyperthyroidism and he has been started on methimazole, an inexpensive medication, which he takes easily. He has gained some weight and his coat is shiny and smooth now. When he wants to be petted, he leans his head softly against you and purrs. His foster roommate was a bit upset when he arrived, but he was sweet to her from the first minute and soon won her over, so it is likely he would do well integrating into a home with other cats. Whiskey Whiskers would make an ideal companion for anyone, but especially for an elderly or busy person who wants an undemanding yet loving fur-buddy. He eats only canned food but does not have expensive tastes, instead preferring Grreat Choice, Elegant Medleys, and Fancy Feast shreds.
