Adoption Information

Luke & MuncheeCats and kittens in foster care with the Kindness for Cats volunteers are all current fosters from Orange County Animal Services located in Orlando, FL. You will be communicating with a foster parent regarding any available pet listed on this site and the adoption will be completed through the OCAS shelter office. If you find an animal you are interested in, you must interact with her/him before you can adopt the kitty to make sure they're a good match for you and/or your family. Our main goal at Kindness is the make sure as many cats and kittens as possible are saved from euthanasia and find a FOREVER home. Meeting your potential pet in their foster environment is usually the best option- they will be more comfortable at home and therefore more themselves. However, meeting and interacting at the shelter is always an option if it’s more convenient for you or the foster parent.

Please email the foster parent listed in the cat or kitten’s description for the quickest response. She will discuss meet and greet options and answer any questions you might have.

After interacting with your potential new family member, you will need to complete the OCAS adoption application. You will also need a valid ID (e.g., driver's license) and cash, check or credit card for the adoption fee.

Once you decide to take your new family member(s) home, this is what will be included with their adoption:

  • Spay/neuter

  • Deworming

  • Initial Vaccinations (including rabies** + tag)

  • Microchip ID

  • Feline leukemia and FIV tests

  • Adoption welcome kit (including a small bag of food and coupons)

  • Unconditional love from your furry companion!

The OCAS adoption fee is $50.00 for cats and kittens.

**If a kitten is not yet old enough to receive the rabies vaccination at the time of adoption, you can bring her/him back to the OCAS clinic when they are due (approximately 4 months of age) or you can choose to pay your personal veterinarian for the vaccine and service.

THANK YOU kindly for considering adopting a pet!  There are literally hundreds of beautiful animals waiting for a forever home at your local shelter right now. You will not only be saving the life of your adopted pet, but you will be making room at the shelter for another stray or surrendered pet.  Also, please consider adopting more than one cat or kitten. OCAS is running a BOGO deal year-round and we believe animals always thrive in pairs or small groups, especially kittens and older bonded mates.  Find out why two kittens are better than one here.
